| The day started of normal with sunny skies and few clouds. But by 11h00, it seemed like a monster had descended on our city. It REALLY looked like somehting out of "The Scorpion King". We haven't had much rain so the desert winds blew all the loose sand into the city. Those of us new to Riyadh, were shocked by the almost instant change. It took all of 30 minutes to begin full force! Hence the red pix!! We couldn't even see across the road. Everyone else was well prepared. In a few minutes we all had masks on and authorities were on high alert. Good news was we got early leave, and the next day no kids were at school. Bad news was we have to keep cleaning and dusting fine sand off everything!!! |
