Letters to Heaven These are letters written by my students
to the children of Belchtow who died in the Chelmno Death Camp in August of
1942. Dear Szulim, I am so sorry for what was wrongly done to
you. If it is any help, the Nazis lost
the war. Plus, the State of Israel is
doing well. When I grow up, I will make sure that what
happened to you will never happen again. I will do this by working in my government one
day. I still can’t believe that this
happened to you. I am so sorry. Connor Dear Abram, I would like to think that the world is a
better place. I will remember and try to be a better
person. I will remember that we all are
children of God. Kate Dear Szelig, Things are better now, we have more
religious freedom. The Nazis were
defeated. But, we remember you and all
the other children of your village. I
can not tell you how sorry I am for this. I can learn a lesson from such
actions. There is no place in this world
for hatred. We are all one family with
God. Love, Ryan Dear Bajla, First of all, the Nazis lost the war. I would like to think that many things have
gotten better. However, there is still hatred in this
world, but we are working on it. I
promise you that I will never judge people by their religion or race. I will not treat them unjustly. I promise to do my best to make the world a
better place. With hope, Dear Moszek, The world has changed. Your country of We must all work to increase understanding
between religions and realize that we are all children of God. Laney |
