Dear Friends,
I hope this email finds you all well and healthy.
We will be returning to school on Sept. 2nd, the Jewish holidays begin on September 12th and we will celebrate the Jewish new year.
It was a great summer for me and the rest did me a lot of good.
I will be informing you about upcoming activities.

Educators can send information about their schools and cities and we will add to share for everyone to see.

This year Israel will be celebrating its 60th birthday and we hope you will all take part in our activities and learn about our country too.

I was chosen to be on the international jury for the Global Junior Challenge in Rome, Italy. It is a technology competition supported by the Municipality of Rome and I will be going to Rome at the beginning of October and I am very excited.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

Dear Friends,
I am writing this message during our summer holiday and hope everyone is well and happy. We will return to school at the end of August. I am very happy to share the news that I will be attending the Global Junior Challenge in Rome in October as a judge on the international jury. Needless to say I am very excited about returning. It will include an exhibition where Globaldreamers will also be presented to all those attending the workshops and this wonderful event.

To read about the judges: http://www.gjc.it/2006/en/giurati_2007.php
Just click on my name! You can also read about the event at http://www.gjc.it

I wish to congratulate Lieven from Belguim for making it to the finalist list! Good luck!!

I also wanted to tell you about the Global Virtual Classroom competition. It is a great way to work with kids if you would like to collabobarate and make friends around the world. For the last two years my kids have taken part and enjoyed the experience very much.

You can read about it here :
http://virtualclassroom.org/contest/2K_app.html
If you are looking for intense involvement with two other schools in creating a web site, take a look at this contest.

I've participated in it with my students for two years now. I'll tell you it is really a lot of work, but also rewarding when you have good partners and the kids make friends with them.

You would have to be able to devote the time and have a little idea of how to make a web page... and have very hard working kids. It is very rewarding in so many ways so if you are interested have a look and good luck!
Please let me know how you are all doing. I will be in touch with you and we hope to be working with all of you again this year!

Keep the dreams rolling!
Best wishes for a wonderful vacation.
In friendship,
Marsha Goren

Dear Educators,
Tomorrow everning we begin our Holocaust Memorial day. I received this link and it is a program about a huge German archive that was recently brought to public attention about the milions of victims from the war and the unbelievable and shocking documentation by the Nazis.

http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml?id=2274705n

I have opened the subject of we remember the six million on our discussion board. You are welcome to come and write with the kids.

We will be adding things to our Holocaust unit and hope to receive materials from many of you for this most important educational activity.

See: http://www.globaldreamers.org/holocaust/hmd07/index.html
Please keep sending in materials as this is so important. As you know the Holocaust unit is dedicated to my Mom, Sonia Frenkel God rest her soul and offers a variety of activities on line and off including worksheets.

Here are materials for the unit, use and please take pictures of kids working so we may add them to the 2007 activities.

We also appreciate and accept any lessons or materials from educators in our project or educators from your schools.

This is a link of how Ein Ganim prepared last year. I will of course be adding more for this year.

There are also a variety of links that you may use to show the children and survivor's stories such as my own.
See: http://www.globaldreamers.org/holocaust/survivors/sonya.html

I have been sick all week and did not write much. Our spring project will be on March 21st in honor of spring, please do not forget to send your picture with the name of the city and country for our unit. I have received many responses and it is exciting to see and hear from everyone.

Exciting news for Globaldreamers!! Two of my students from the sixth grade are part of the Petach Tikva Symphonic Orchestra. They are now visiting Chicago and from this evening with be staying in Oak Park with our friends from Julian School and Lincoln School. Some of my previous students are also taking part in this exciting endeavor and will meet face to face with our global partners and friends. This is so unbelievable for everyone involved and my special thanks go out to Janet Barnstable and Matt Kuntz for caring enough to make this happen.

How blessed we are to have friends like that and it is thanks to Globaldreamers and the power of the Internet to bring together good educators like all of you. August 18
Dear Friends around the world,
I start of by saying this was not a regular summer for the kids and I. I was fortunate enough to be away for the month of July and for those of you who did not read my diary, you may find it at:
http://www.globaldreamers.org/tdreamer/index.html

My journey to the USA was an unforgettable experience and winning GSN has brought me much pride and joy. Thank you all so much.Meeting Janet and Nicki at their schools was incredible!!

Upon my return the war was still going on and unfortunately one of the girls in my class lost her Dad in Lebanon and it was a devestating experience for all of us. Seeing four young children lose their wonderful Dad literally broke my heart. We mourn for all loved ones on all sides who have lost family and friends.

I pray the normality will return to our lives as we return to school on Septmember 3rd.

I also have some good news! Geoff Kaye of Australia has sponsored Globaldreamers and added a sound room called Discovere. It is awesome and teachers will be able to have kids meet online and talk to each other, draw to each, write to each other, upload files and presentations and much more! Teachers interested will receive a password from me. Take advantage of this awesome tool on Globaldreamers at:
http://www.globaldreamers.org/discovere.html
and instructions:
http://www.globaldreamers.org/discovdepth.html
There is one small download the first time and that is it!!
Educators interested in using this please contact me for the password. It is user friendly and a great asset to our work, special thanks to Geoff Kaye in Australia.

I look forward to working with all of you and so do the kids.
I will keep you all informed through my emails.
I wish everyone a wonderful year full of peace, love and joy.
May Globaldreamers have dreams that come true. Our work on share is really unique and many people at the NECC conference complimented it !
Kindest regards and special thanks to the many educators who have written to me and are continuing our dream.

Sincerely,
Marsha Goren

August 1, 2006
Dear Friends,

First of all I wish to thank all of the educators who have been writing to see how the kids and I are doing during these difficult days in Israel.

Thank God, for now we have not been in the missle or rocket range and pray it will continue, however we are saddened by our fellow citizens and friends who live in the northern part of Israel and are suffering so badly. We mourn every life that is lost by our soldiers and innocent civilians. We mourn deaths of all innocent people everywhere.

I have just returned from an incredible experience in the USA. I participated in the NECC conference in San Diego, California and received the GSN award and it was so exciting. You may read about my diary on the site under the travelling dreamer.
http://www.globaldreamers.org/tdreamer/index.html

The workshops I atttended were wonderful and the exhibition hall really blew me away!! It was an unforgettable experience. I also visited my friend Janet's school in Oak Park and Nicki's school in Waterbury, Connecticut. It was great spending time with two dream partners and friends.

On a personal note I also spent time with my family and it was wonderful. I came back feeling proud of this special trip.

I am very happy that many educators are writing that they will continue dreaming with us this year again. It is heartwarming especially in these difficult days and it gives me hope for a better future for all of the children in our project.

Kindest regards and please keep in touch.
