The Contaminant

It leaks into homes like sewage
And plants the seeds of the new age
The venomous weed, filled with disease
Then swallows all of hope for the future
With a poison fist it destroys, soldiers deployed
Taking away, the night and the day
For all those who don’t stand and salute

Because they weren’t flawless, they were completely lawless
And dead to the eyes of the free
Long days ago, when the sun did not show
And the sky was filled with blackness
People were stolen away
And brought to their knees
Never to be free

Because of what they believed.
