This Train BY: THE INDIGO GIRLS "This Train Revised" is a song about the Holocaust. They gave many details and it made it sound like they were sitting right there on the train as they wrote it. This song made me think about a lot of things and help other people hopefully realize how grateful we are. "This Train Revised" has many things to symbolize what it was like. One thing was "It's a fish white belly," which represents the sick people and the dead. "A razor on a wire" is symbolizing the concentration camps. Some of the lyrics made me really uncomfortable because I could just imagine how it was and how everyone felt. One of the biggest things I could think of was how they felt while sitting on the train going to another weird place to be tortured. They probably all felt alone and hurt. They most likely stayed scared because they never knew what was coming next. Most of them stayed sick and very weak. Many died everyday. The following is what they could have been:
All these were describing how bad the people had it and how they basically weren't free anymore. This song showed a lot of hurt in it. When you listen to it you feel like your sitting on the train with everyone. We should all be glad we live in the time we do. Ellie Banner and background Talya Ein Ganim |
