The Holocaust was a terrible event that took place during World War II. Approximately 6 million European Jews were killed. Approximately 3 million Jews were from Poland. Most of the Jews were from Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Russia or Poland. There were a few from France and Belgium. The Nazis were the people responsible for all the casualties. The Nazis were a political party in Germany who had complete control over Germany. They were lead by a dictator, Adolf Hitler during the 1930’s and the 1940’s. They forced all the Jewish people into a bus and drove them off to a concentration camp. There many died of starvation. However, most were either shot to death or put in gas chambers where the Nazis pumped poisonous gases. Not everyone died thought. Some were lucky enough to escape or take a job. One of the jobs may have been a seamstress to sew uniforms for the Nazi army. Then we think about how many lives were taken, it is very depressing. I hope that there will never be an event like this again. Let all of us pray for those who died in the Holocaust. Joanne |
The Holocaust was a horrible thing. Many people lost their lives because they were Jewish. That is sad. No one should take their anger out on innocent people. So, may we never forget these many people that died during this terrible time. Hopefully, this will never happen again. Bryce I think that we should read about the Holocaust because we need to know that genocide is a real thing. These six million Jewish people died for no reason other than religious hatred. The world should know of the horrible actions that happened at the concentration camps. Innocent women, children and men were killed. I think that after all these years, it should still affect us. Millions of people…just think of them. Sheehan |
The Holocaust was a very sad event. I think we should learn and remember the tragic events that happened so we do not forget them. If we learn about the Holocaust, it is teaching us to be aware of the harm that hatred and intolerance can do. Six million people were killed because of religious differences. Yes, some people stood up and hid the Jewish people and tried to help them in other ways. These people are an example to us all. We must be always ready to stand up for what is right. Evey |
It all began on January 30, 1933 when the Nazis took over Germany and other European countries under the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler. In these countries, millions of Jews were driven out of their homes and were sent to the concentration camps. At the camps, many of the Jews and other people were killed. This is very sad. Altogether about six million Jews were killed. There are many lessons to learn here. The first is to remember that we are all children of God. We should treat each other with respect and tolerance. I’m sad for what happened during the Holocaust. I hope that this will never happen in the future and that people will be nicer and kinder to each other. We should always remember that time and try to prevent something like this happening again. If we remembered that we are all human beings and should be treated with respect and tolerance this world would be a better place. Jon |
The holocaust started in Europe. Adolph Hitler and his army came into people’s homes and took almost all the Jews away. These people had done nothing wrong. However, the Nazis thought they were different. The Nazis thought being different is wrong. It is not. It would be a boring world if we were all the same. We should like people to be different. We should celebrate differences. It makes our world a special place. AnnMarie |
The Holocaust was horrible. A long time ago, during World War II, the German government decided that all the Jews had to die. They called it a solution. They also did not like other people and killed them too. In all, they killed millions of people because the people had a different religion or nationality. This is so wrong. They even took children to the concentration camps. I can not imagine such a thing! There are lessons to be learned from this. The most important is to be kind to everyone. Johana |
The Holocaust was a very tragic time in history that the world should never forget. No one ever thought that anything that terrible could ever happen, but it did. Children my age and younger were killed! It didn’t matter who you were or who you would become. The Nazis thought that Jews were not human beings. They treated them like dirt. Now we think back on those times and we remember what a terrible crime other humans committed. That is why we remember the Holocaust and the many, many people involved in it. Hannah |
The Holocaust was the extermination of the Jews in Europe. A man named Hitler wanted the perfect race and he was in charge of the military. Hitler and his army captured Jewish people and sent them to the concentration camps. At these camps, Jewish people were tortured, starved and put to death in gas chambers. Hitler and his military were horrible to the Jewish people. It was very sad. I’ve read a good book called Light into Darkness about the Holocaust. The author was the man’s daughter. My brother is in 8th Grade and he just did his National History Day project on the Holocaust. Vinny |
I feel very sorry for all those families that lost loved ones. But, feeling sorry still doesn’t come close to all the pain that occurred over those years. Six million Jewish moms, dads, grandparent, and children died. Lots of people had to start their lives over with nothing to work with. And those who did not survive died in some of the cruelest ways. We should never forget those who survived and died in the Holocaust. Kevin |
The Holocaust was a very sad time. Millions of people’s lives were taken away because they were Jewish. The Nazis thought Jewish people were different so they killed them. I don’t think it was right that the Nazis did this. Many people died during the Holocaust. They died for what they believed in. Many others who weren’t Jewish died too because they were trying to help the Jewish people. The Holocaust has caused many tears, even today. Joey I could write many facts about the Holocaust. On February 28, 1933, the Secret State Police in Nazi Germany was given complete control to arrest anyone. Jews were taken from their homes, terrorized and beaten, or sent to one of the concentration camps. All their possessions were taken by the state. Imagine the fear that these people felt. This is why we study about the Holocaust…so no one will ever be treated like this again. Tiffany |
This is all about the Holocaust. Many people died because they were Jewish. This was a very awful time. Millions of Jews died because of their religion. Kids, adults, and babies were being killed because Hitler believed that Jews were the cause of Germany’s problems. Six million Jews were killed by concentration camps, starvation, sicknesses, and even depression. It was a miracle to survive this. Some survivors had to run away, leave Germany and their family, and hide with people that were not Jewish. It took a lot of courage to leave your home and family. Houses were being torn down and destroyed. So, if you were a survivor, your house would most likely be gone. Survivors were very lucky to escape all this. If you went to a concentration camp, you would be separated from your father, mother, sisters, brothers, and friends. At a concentration camp, you would be killed. There was not really a way of escaping it. If you were a Jew, you would be considered dangerous. I think that the Holocaust never should have happened. Jewish people were just the same as any other people. I think it is very wrong. There is so much more to learn about this horrible event. The Holocaust was a very sad time for all people. Innocent people should never be killed. Katie |
The holocaust was a very bad time for Jewish people. Jewish people would have to hide in mountains, forests or run away from the Nazis. When they were found, they were taken by train to concentration camps. In the camps, the Jewish people were killed, used for experiments or treated like slaves. Over six million people died. It was a very terrible time. Nick |
I am learning about the Holocaust. It was a great tragedy. The main man of madness was Hitler. This all started because he thought Jews weren’t human beings. But, there are people who think violence is the way even now. Just look in the news. God put us on this earth to do good deeds. We must stop thinking violence solves things. It does not. Matt |
I read a story on this site. I think Grandmother Brache was very brave and lucky. If I were she, I would have been terrified. It was so dangerous. I am proud to have read this story and am happy that she survived. Megan |
In my opinion, the Holocaust was the worst thing that ever happened. Six million people died when it occurred. Not only Jewish people were killed, but a lot of other people died too. They were murdered because they were a bit different. The Nazis just came in and took people right out of their homes. Some people, if they were lucky, escaped, but not many did. It’s not fair how and why these people were killed. What matters now is that we can stop people from doing this again if we try. I think the Holocaust was terrible and should never have happened.
