DON’T CUT MY LEG
‘The French were attacking continuously and they never stopped their fire for five or six days. We were under a great amount of smoke and dirt. When the clouds of smoke and dust went off, we saw our commander Ulvi Bey had fallen on the ground. I moved toward him. I saw that one of his legs was almost gone. The doctors wanted to cut his leg, which a little tissue was the only connection to his body.
