Dear Global Dreamers,
We just finished watching the video Safe Haven: Warsaw Zoo. It was very good. In a way, it scared me. I don’t know what it would be like to have been in hiding.
Have you ever wondered how our country could be the same as your’s? Well, here’s a way: We both have a period of time, in our history, where people had to be in hiding. They weren’t exactly the same, but they both involved hiding. The Holocaust was yours. The Underground Railroad was ours. They were running for freedom. They didn’t want to be slaves. They wanted freedom. Same with yours. The people involved in the Holocaust wanted their freedom. They didn’t want to be held in concentration camps, worked to death, or weakened and then death. They wanted freedom. It’s wrong that the German’s either burned them, or, made them work.
Today we had Library. I am really interested in the Holocaust. And guess what I found? I found a book on the Holocaust, and the Diary of Anne Frank. I have started the Diary of Anne Frank. It is very good. I like the way she named her diary Kitty.
Back to the Holocaust and the video. It made me emotional. How do you think they survived it? It would be hard. Especially with bombs, or anything else happening to you. The children lost their lives too. That was all because they were smuggling food into the ghetto. The German’s didn’t even hesitate before shooting them.
I’m sorry if this is hurting your feelings or anything. Making you feel like I’m trying to put it in your face about the Holocaust. I truly am. I am not trying to make you become emotional. I am trying to tell you everything I’ve learned. If anything you find in this letter is wrong, please, just write me back. I want to understand different cultures, countries, anywhere. I want to know the pain. I want to understand these cultures, because, our country might have something against them. I don’t want to have anything against them, including you.
The while we have been writing back and forth have been awesome. After this year ends, and I move onto the fifth grade, I will still be doing research about the Holocaust, and Israel.
Sorry, I just type something, and on it goes to something else. (Back to the video.) I would be terrified to be in hiding for a long while. But when they said that some survived, I was overjoyed. Even though there are just a few who survived, I am still happy.
Anybody who reads this letter, please, like I said earlier, write back to me, if you can.
Thanks for reading! Don’t worry; I’ll remember that people are people.
