I am in the third year of Takamori High School.  My hobby is listening to music.  I am going to go to university and study welfare.  In the future, I will get the qualification as a social worker and want to work in the social welfare institution or medical institution.  Reading this book and writing this report were good experience for me to learn about peace.

　  I read a book about Auschwits concentration caｍps.  This book is written about the barbarous facts of the Auschwits concentration camps by a person who was actually there.  I know only about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, so I wanted to know about tragedy of war in foreign countries through this opportunity.  In Auschwits concentration camps, people were given a number and had these numbers tattooed on their body.  The ruler made them work very hard.  But this work was meaningless work.  People who could not work such as children and old people were killed in gas chambers.  People who were made to work were wielded with violence by the guards and then they were killed.  About four million people were killed in Auschwiz concentration camps.　

I was shocked to know about these barbarous happenings.　I felt horrible.　I can not believe that this barbarous happenings happened only sixty years ago.　Why did they kill blameless people?　I was displeased.　While I read this book, I pitied them.　Surely, they did not feel like living.　

　  Why do people fight?　Why do people want to dominate over others?　We must not have concept that we can dominate others.　It is wrong to discriminate and kill human beings.　This is a natural thing for us.　No one has the right to be able to kill human beings.　

We should know about war properly not to repeat these mistakes.  We didn’t experience wars, therefore, we must make an effort to know about war.  What’s more important is that we must bequeath our knowledge about war for posterity. 

Everyone has to have a kind heart and cooperate with each other.  If everyone treasures these things, people won’t fight.  It is wrong to kill many people for egoistical reasons.  We must appreciate that we live in peaceful times.  I wish for the peace of the world.

　私はアウシュビッツ収容所についての本を読みました。この本は実際に収容された一人の人によって書かれたものです。この本にはアウシュビッツ収容所での残酷な事実について書かれています。私は広島や長崎についてしか知りませんでした。だから、私はこの機会を通して外国の戦争の悲劇を知りたいと思いました。アウシュビッツ収容所では、人々は番号で管理され、彼らの体に番号を入れ墨されました。支配者は彼らにとても苦しい仕事をさせました。しかし、この仕事は意味をなさない仕事でした。子供たちやお年寄りのような働けない人々はガス室で殺されました。働かされた人々は支配者から暴力をふるわれ、それから彼らも死んでいきました。約４００万人もの人々がアウシュビッツ収容所で殺されました。

　私はこのような出来事を知ってショックを受けました。私は恐ろしく感じました。私はたった６０年ほど前にこの残酷な出来事が起こったことを信じることができません。なぜ罪のない人々が殺されなければ行けなかったのでしょうか。私は不快にさせられました。私はこの本を読んでいる間、彼らがかわいそうでなりませんでした。きっと、彼らはアウシュビッツ収容所では生きている心地がしなかったでしょう。

　なぜ人々は争うのでしょうか。なぜ人々は何かを支配したがるのでしょう。私たちは自分だけが優位に立とうという考えは持ってはいけません。人間同士で殺し合ったり、差別することは悪いことです。このことは私たちにとって当たり前のことであるべきです。すべての人が人間を殺すことができる権利なんか持っていません。

私たちは過ちを繰り返さないために戦争についてきちんと知るべきです。私たちは戦争を経験していません。だからこそ私たちは戦争のことを知らなければなりません。さらに私は後世の人々に戦争のことを伝えていかなければならないと思います。

すべての人が思いやりの心を持たないといけないし、お互いに協力しなければなりません。もし、すべての人がこれらのことを大事にすれば、人々は争わないと思います。利己的な理由で多くの人々が殺されることは間違っています。私たちは平和な時代に生きていることを有り難く思わなければいけません。私は世界の平和を祈ります。

This is called genocide in which a particular group of people are targeted for illogical reasons.

When the world finds out about them the usual excuses that are told are:

    “I was doing my job.” 

“I have no knowledge of the incident.”

 “It wasn’t me it was someone else.”

“You don’t have any proof.”

 “It never happened. Everyone else is lying.”

 “They were destroying the nation so they had to be killed.”

These people kill others and many of them do not even care. We feel horrible for any group of people that are specifically targeted for genocide. People who kill others claim that those people are not humans and don’t deserve to live. Yet those people doing the killing are the ones who are not human.

The solution is to educate and show people that the world does not revolve around them. Everyone inthe world has a right to live and should be treated fairly.
