Hello to all our friends!
My name is Matan and I'm a student in grade 6 in Ein-Ganim school.
I would like to answer your questions- We celebrated the beginning of the New Year.

In Hebrew it's called "Rosh Hashana" (literally meaning Rosh= Head, Hashana= Year).
In "Rosh Hashana" we usually eat a head of a fish and not its tail because we wish to be in a leading position like the head and not to fall behind like the tail.
We also eat an apple with honey because we want to have a sweet year as sweet as the honey.
I understand from your mail that your teacher thinks we live in a dangerous part of Israel.
That’s completely wrong!
We live in a safe city called Petach-Tikva which is located in the middle of Israel next to Tel Aviv.

Yours, Matan
