"Our Homeschooled Family" - The Ritters - Indianna, USA.

We have been writing to the wonderful Ritter family for two years now. We enjoy learning about their lives and we appreciate their friendship.

Dear Michal,
Thank you for your nice letter. It was interesting to read about your malls. It sounds like it would be fun to go shopping in your town! Our town has many small shops, but not really any large malls. The large malls are further away, and they have lots and lots of stores there, for everything you can imagine! Do you have grocery stores? Here in America, most people buy their food from grocery stores. Some of the grocery stores even have another large half to them that contains clothes, shoes, and anything else you would need for your self or your home! They are called Supercenters or Super stores.

We were going to go camping, but the weather man says it will rain a lot and be quite cold, so we are going to cancel our plans. It is disappointing, but our dad says we can camp in our camper in the driveway in front of our house for tonight since it isn't going to rain tonite. I guess that is better than nothing!

Hi Michal!

The food pictures were really interesting! It sure would be fun to taste some of the foods you like! Here, just a few of the things we eat a lot of are beef stew...it has pieces of beef, lots of vegetables, and a broth that tastes very good with the right seasoning!

We also like a "blooming onion" which is a very large onion that is dipped in a special batter and deep fried with a spicy sauce. Yummy! of course we love pizza too! And cheeseburgers and french fries! One of our favorite restaurants is Taco Bell where you can get all kinds of burritos, tacos, and other things.

Here where we live, it is getting a bit colder and a lot of the leaves are falling off of the trees. Our next upcoming holiday is Thanksgiving, when we share lots of food with our family and think about all the good things God has brought us. It is a very nice time for all of us! We hope to hear from you soon!

Dear Michal,

Thank you for the beautiful pictures of your country and some of the places you like to visit. It was so interesting! As a family, we have been to many parks and this past summer we saw the beach and the ocean in the state of Florida. It was so nice and warm there! We got to watch pelicans swoop from the sky and catch their meals! We saw sea turtles at night come out and dig a very deep nest in the sand and lay many, many eggs.

Our favorite places to go are places that have lots of trails for us to explore, like woods with lot's of trees, and we also like going and looking in caves. We went to one once that was called Mammoth Cave and it is very, very large and goes on for miles underground.

Here is a picture of us standing on a very large rock on one of the places that we like to go to. This park has lots of fun trails to walk and a beautiful spring that has very cold water!
