Israel is 60 Years OldIsrael is a state in Western
Asia located on the eastern edge of the Mediterranean
Sea. It borders Lebanon in
the north, Syria and Jordan in
the east, and Egypt on
the southwest. Israel is at war with several of these states, so it
is a wonder how anyone could manage to take over even a small piece
of land between these states. Israel is turning 60 and, despite the horrible things that are going on now, it is worth reading about the amazing accomplishments of this rather young state. In the beginning, Israel was the envy of the developing
world. Israeli experts spent many years providing technical assistance
in agriculture to Africa and Asia. Israel is now recognized as one
of the world's leading centers of research and development. Some schools and companies arrange song and dance festivals for the whole community to watch. Some countries celebrate their birthdays with presents and blessings. In Israel, some citizens use a colorful plastic hammer, called a tipesh, to bop each other on the head. There might also be a torch lighting ceremony or a firework show. To celebrate Israel's 60th birthday, companies are inviting
many cyclists from
around the world, and throughout Israel, to join a special ride with
Israel at 60. This project provides an excellent opportunity to
combine a sportive environment with the celebration of Israel's 60th
birthday. By Gaya Ein Ganim School in honor of Israel |
