Israel's 60th Anniversary

This year, we are celebrating Israel's 60th anniversary.
In these 60 years, Israel was very successful:

• We grew from 650,000 people to more than  7,000,000 people.
• Eight Israelis won the Nobel prize:
• Shay Agnon, Literature, 1966.
• Menachem Begin, Peace, 1978.
• Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres, Peace, 1994.
• Daniel Cahanman, Economy, 2002.
• Avraham Hershko and Aharon Chekhanover, Chemistry, 2004.
• Israel Robert Uman, Economy, 2005.
• Six Israelis won Olympic medals:
• Barcelona, 1992, Yael Arad (silver) and Oren Smadja (bronze).
• Atlanta, 1996, Gal Friedman (bronze).
• Sydney, 2000, Michael Kalganov (bronze).
• Athens, 2004, Arik Ze'evi (bronze) and Gal Friedman (gold).
• Israel is one of only eight countries that launch satellites into space:
• Ofeq 1, 2, 3, 5, 7.
• Amos 1, 2. Amos 3 is going to be launched soon with the logo of the 60th anniversary. Amos 4 will be launched in 2012.
• Eros 1,2. Eros 3 will be launched in 2009.
• Tech–Sat 2 was launched by the Technion studants in 1998.
• Tech-Sar launched in 2008 from India.
•  Israel has peace agreements with:
• Egypt, since 1979.
• Jordan, since 1994.
