D.A.R.E.

In fifth grade we do a program called D.A.R.E.  D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.  Once every week in the spring, our DARE teacher, Officer Jones, teaches us how drugs are harmful, for example, cigarettes can give you upper respiratory problems, and can lead up to lung cancer.  Then we also watch movies to see how deadly drugs can be.  After the lesson, we have homework to practice what we learned.

Later in the program we have to write an essay about our experiences in DARE.  After turning in our essays, we are qualified to graduate.  Then after graduation, we receive a t-shirt and certificate to prove we graduated.  It is something we’ll always remember!
