Our School

It is located in the town of Dneprorudny, Ukraine. The school, which consists of two buildings, was opened in 1993. It is a public school that provides an education for about 600 pupils from the first form (age 6) up to the eleventh form (age 17). Since 1998 it has had the status of being a Multy-Typed Specialized school. The “types” refer to 5 different departments or areas of specialization. The mission of school is to promote the physical, mental and spiritual self-development of its students.

The first type is the Humanities. This consists of several different languages as well as Journalism and History. English and Ukrainian are the emphasized languages.

The next department is Maths. The subjects offered here are Maths, Economics and Computer Science. There are two computer labs at school. Another department at school is Ecology. Students have a chance to “get out in the field” by taking part in expeditions to the local “Stones Graves” preserve. As an extra-curricular activity, ecological meetings are held that are dedicated to learning about the wildlife and habitat of the area. There is a department for those who wish to develop technical skills. Crafts such as woodworking are studied in depth. This department has an original curriculum; the program is developed entirely by the faculty at school#3.

Finally there is a sports department, dedicated to the physical development of the students. The sports offered are volleyball, basketball, soccer, table tennis, wrestling, karate, swimming, track and field and aerobics. The school is well-equipped for this with two gymnasiums, a 25 meter swimming pool, weight room, sauna, dance studio and outdoor soccer field and track.

Our Gymnasium

Since 1995 Dneprorudny School#3 has been one of ten experimental schools in Ukraine. We have participated in this experiment through the State Academy of Education. This experiment has centered around using innovative technologies to stimulate self-development in students. The goal is to see an increase in the physical, mental and spiritual health of the students. Now officially the experiment is over but our school continues to work using innovative technologies of education.
