Fruit tree. From the family of the olives.

The olive tree is an ever-green tree that gives fruits that have very high nutritous value.

Its flowers (of the tree) are set up in bunch, the flower is usually white. The flower has 4 leaves. In nature, the birds are spreading the male cells and fertilizing the flowers.

After the fertilizing process the flower becomes black and slowly the flower becomesan olive! The olives are fruits that are very high in fats and proteins.

The fertilizing process ends in May and the fruits are good to eat only in September.

The root system is very complicated and very strong.

The olive tree is long living tree (1000 years and more).

The extraction of the olive is from the islands of the middle sea.

The tree is so important that even the bible remindsus about olives!!

For example: the olive branch  is the symbol for peace!

In Greece the olives were  the sign of the god athena.

In Israel today- more than 100,000 dunam  have  olives

The kinds of olives in israel:

Syrian- it has more then 40% of oil

• Manzalyno- Spanish olives that have more than 81% oil
• Sabylino-These olives are Spanish too they are good for pickling
• Eliyaho field 5- a good olive from the Aliyaho village at the north of Israel they are good for pickling but they have a lot of oil inside
