Israel is the country which has the most olive trees  and more than any other country.

There is a mountain in Jerusalem called "The Mount of Olives". It is a mountain with a lot of olive trees.

If you walk in the streets of Israel, you will see a lot of olive trees.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is the most healthy oil. This is the way to make it:

To make olive oil we need, at first, to harvest the olives. It is done by a lot of ways, from hand-picking and until auto process. The most popular way is to put a net under the tree and shake the tree.

After the harvesting we need to take the olives to a mill.

The next step of the olive oil making is the crushing.

24 hours after the harvesting we take the olives to the mill. In the mill, we crush the whole fruit and making an olive paste. We crush the olive paste again to release the oil from the olive. After we crush the olive and remove the sediment and the water by filtering the oil, we go to the next step.

The third step of olive oil making is the selecting.

In the selecting some people are checking the oil to be sure there isn't any "unhealthy" oil.

After that, we taste the oil.

Some people that are called "masters" on the olive oil subject, which have a lot of experience, taste it and say if it is good or not.

Then we go to the analyzing step.

There we need to have some people to taste this oil and say if it is ok.

The next step is refinery.

On this step we refine the oil and making it more tasteful and with aroma.

The next step is the using.

We can use the oil with salad; we can use it to fry food and more.

Olives for eating

To eat the olives we need to put the olives in a jar, and add:

  • Garlic
  • Lemon juice
  • Olive oil
  • Some spices

You can add more things to it.

Then we need to put a cover to the jar.

Then we put the jar in a dry place and wait 1.5-2.5 months, and then you can open the jar and eat the olives.
