Long ago, I was born
In the washing of the
waves
The bubbling foam caressed my cheek
The wind touched my hair
The current dragged me to a rocky shore
Of golden sunsets and blood-red
rises
It took me to the bare tree tops to watch
Earth die and be reborn
each day
Like a hummingbird breaking its shell, grow gem-colored feathers,
flit for a moment, and then fall
And then be an egg again
I have watched each day flower- a wild rose with
petals like skin
Skin like the sun falling on the sea
So now I see the ocean again
And sigh, for knowing that I must journey
out once more
With the wind as my steed and the water as my steer
